Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will attend the 2015 G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey, on November 15 and 16, and the ASEAN (Association for Southeast Asian Nations) Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 21 and 22, a spokesperson said.
Foreign Affairs Ministrys spokesperson, Arrmanatha Nasir, said during a press briefing here on Thursday that President Jokowi will bring focus to three main Indonesian interests at the G20 summit, including the importance of the worlds currency stability, financing of infrastructure and the multinational corporations profit sharing policy in the base country.
"The Foreign Affairs Minister and Financial Minister will accompany the President during the summit," he noted.
Arrmanatha added that Indonesia will contribute actively to discussing three main issues at the 2015 G20 summit, comprising inclusiveness, implementation and investment.
"The G20s leaders will also discuss global issues, such as preparation for the Conference on Climate Change in Paris," he stated.
After attending the G20 summit in Turkey, President Jokowi will attend the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 21 and 22.
The Foreign Affairs Ministrys Director of ASEANs Dialogue Partners and Inter-regional Cooperation, Derry Aman, said President Jokowi is scheduled to attend ten meetings, including two inter-face meetings of ASEAN leaders, with the ASEAN Business Council and an ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan, South Korea) meeting with the East Asian Business Council.
"The President will also attend some sideline events, but it is still optional, such as a global investor dialogue, an ASEAN business and investment summit and ASEAN Business Award 2015," he stated.
According to Derry, during the ASEAN leaders meeting, President Jokowi will emphasize the importance of ASEANs unity and centrality, and the establishment of ASEANs post-2025 vision.
"Of course, Indonesia as the natural leader of ASEAN, we need to reemphasize those two principals as ASEAN faces new global challenges," he noted.
Derry also explained that ASEANs post-2025 vision will be focused on how ASEAN evaluates the past and reshapes its future after the ASEAN community has lasted from 2015 to 2025.
