Dubai - WAM

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, launched the world’s first government accelerators on Sunday.

The first group of government accelerators will focus on five ministries: the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and Ministry of Education. He directed officials to intensify efforts to achieve a 100 percent completion rate for the National Agenda goals.

"The successful nations are not gauged by their size, but in the speed they accomplish achievements and bring forward innovative solutions to challenges in transitioning to the future, as well as active participation in making a difference in the lives of people, Sheikh Mohammed said.

He added, "While we launch the government accelerators today, the move ushers in a new stage that will further strengthen the government agencies' efforts to work under one umbrella in one location to exchange views and to take direct decisions to overcome challenges and find appropriate and quick solutions to achieve the ambitions of people and aspirations of future generations."

"The accelerators have multiple tasks and responsibilities to boost the pace for achieving the goals of the National Agenda and projects. Directives have been issued for all government bodies under the umbrella of the accelerators programme to develop initiatives, laws, policies and services that support national indexes and programmes. The government bodies will also be tasked with implementing joint projects in record time in order to shift government services into advanced standards by 2021," Sheikh Mohammed said.

He noted that every effort exerted by the government aims to raise standards of living in Emirati society. "The accelerators were launched to achieve this goal using effective methods that rely on creativity in the ideal utilisation of resources," Sheikh Mohammed said, adding that he would personally follow up on the implementation of the plans and desired objectives.

Sheikh Mohammed inspected the Government Accelerators headquarters at Emirates Towers. He also heard presentations by government accelerator work teams that gave him a detailed explanation regarding the project’s phases and objectives. Sheikh Mohammad and ministers were then briefed by the officials of the programme on work plans and challenges that they will focus on, as they seek solutions to challenges.

He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince; Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future.
