A Saturday visit by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the family home of martyr Abdullah Ahmed Al Hossani, brought feelings of comfort, joy and pride to his family members.
Sheikh Mohamed's visit to the bereaved family coincided with a joyful event. Omar, the martyr's 16-year-old brother, defied his sadness and competed in the President's Jiu-Jitsu Cup, which took place at Al Jazeera Club yesterday, just 24 hours after learning about his brother's martyrdom. He won a medal in the Championship's most difficult category, the 81-kg for blue belt holders.
"During our last telephone conversation, just a few days before his death, I promised my brother I will win the gold. I am happy that I fulfilled my promise to him," Omar said.
"My next challenge is the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam tour, which will be held in Rio De Janeiro. I am determined to win a gold medal, which I will dedicate to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from whose vision we draw our motivation and strength to reach our goals. The winning will also be a great honour to my martyr brother, who is my role model for his discipline, determination, pride and patriotism."
The father of martyr Al Hossani said Sheikh Mohamed's visit brought joy and pride to all family members.
"His Highness told me: 'I am not here to condole you, but to congratulate you. You are the father of the hero martyr who sacrificed his life on the Flag Day.' "
