Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday returned to the country, a day after wrapping up his tri-nation tour of France, Germany and Canada.
Modi landed at an Indian Air Force base near the international airport in the national capital and was welcomed by senior leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
The prime minister left Canada by his special aircraft Air India One that returned to the national capital after making a stopover in Germany for refuelling.
"I leave Canada with immense satisfaction. This visit will further enhance India-Canada ties. A big thanks to the people of Canada," Modi tweeted before his departure.
Modi's eight-day tour was aimed at attracting investments and promoting his "Make in India" initiative, apart from bolstering this country's defense capabilities.
The Indian prime minister first visited France where he met President Francois Hollande and oversaw the signing of an agreement to purchase 36 Rafale fighter jets from France.
His next destination was Germany where Modi met German Chancellor Angela Merkel and business leaders before heading for Canada.
The Indian prime minister met his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper, following which Ottawa decided to supply 3,000 metric tonnes of uranium to India under a 254 million U.S. dollars deal.
Modi also addressed the Indian diaspora in all the three countries and got a huge reception whereever he went during his tour.
