The Ministry of Manpower has deported 350 expatriates for violating the labour law, after coordinating
Muscat - Arab today

More than 500 labour law violators were arrested by the joint inspection team at the Ministry of Manpower last week.

During the period from March 18 to March 25, 2017, the Ministry of Manpower revealed that 568 expatriates violated the labour law. Four hundred and forty-five (445) of them were commercial workers followed by 70 domestic workers and 53 farmers. 

Of the total, 526 who were arrested by the ministry, 319 absconded from their employer while 194 were released from their contracts and 13 were referred by a third party.

Al Batinah Governorates registered the highest number of arrests with 172 followed by Muscat Governorate with 150.

Meanwhile, the ministry deported 350 expatriates during the same period for violating the labour law, after coordinating with their respective embassies.
