Hollande: We back Lebanon
Beirut - Arab Today

French President Francois Hollande underlined that his country supports Lebanon and is keen on enhancing security in it via joint military cooperation.

This remark came after Hollande's meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

In statements on Saturday from the Lebanese House of Representatives, the French president stressed that the Arab country is threatened by terrorism while it receives more than 1.5 million refugees.

He further highlighted the Lebanese-French unique relations, noting that Paris supports Beirut at the economic level.

Hollande reiterated that Lebanon is surrounded by crises as well as wars and aspires to achieving unity and security, adding that he wishes to come back to Lebanon to meet a president for the country pointing out to the political vacuum in Lebanon.

For his part, Berri said that they discussed the military grant offered to the army, the refugees file, the latest regional developments and fighting terrorism issue.
