Beirut - Arab Today

French President Francois Hollande on Sunday wrapped up his visit to Lebanon during which he met with senior officials and visited a Syrian refugee camp in the eastern Bekaa region.

Hollande's visit to Lebanon is part of a regional tour that will take him to Egypt and Jordan.

He held talks with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi and Army Commander General Jean Qahwahi.

The French leader headed to the Bekaa to meet with Syrian refugees at the Dalhamieh camp. Two Syrian refugee families are expected to be sent to France.

Hollande announced that France will grant Lebanon 50 million euros (56.4 million U.S. dollars) to support the displaced.

Lebanon is home to more than a million Syrian refugees, the equivalent of a quarter the country's population of 4.5 million. Also, there are about 400,000 Palestinian refugees spreading in 12 camps.
