Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry hailed the career life of late UN chief Boutros Boutros-Ghali, saying that generations of diplomats learnt from his experience.

Addressing an event held to commemorate Boutros-Ghali, Shoukry hailed him as one of the Egyptian diplomatic figures.

"He was the first Arab and African to head the UN," Shoukry said.

He called on young diplomats to learn from Boutros-Ghali's unique expertise."

The former UN chief died on February 15.
