H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, today visited the 44th edition of the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, the world championships of vocational skills, taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed toured the exhibition area, and was accompanied by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, and Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education.
During the tour, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, briefed His Highness on youth participation, and focused on the UAE’s involvement in this global event.
During WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 1,300 competitors from across the globe will compete to be the very best in their chosen skills. There will be competitions in 51 various skillsets ranging from floristry to bricklaying; aircraft maintenance to mobile robotics.
Almost 60 WorldSkills Member Countries and Regions have entered teams to compete. WorldSkills promotes vocational skills through its membership, which represents two thirds of the world’s population.
The event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
