UN special envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura arrived in Tehran Wednesday to discuss the Syria conflict with Iranian officials ahead of the upcoming peace talks in Geneva, Press TV reported.
The indirect talks between the Syrian government and opposition will resume in the Swiss city on April 13.
In Tehran, De Mistura held talks with Iran's deputy foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
De Mistura warned that increasing in breaches of Syria's ceasefire could harm the new round of peace talks, scheduled to kick off Wednesday in Geneva.
He also described the upcoming round of intra-Syrian dialogue as "crucially important".
"We explained to Mr de Mistura our concerns after an increase in recent days of military action from irresponsible armed groups and the increase in violations of the ceasefire," Abdollahian said.
De Mistura's trip came as the ceasefire, brokered by the United States and Russia and in place since February 27, was threatening to fall apart.
