Damascus - George Al Shami

The scene of an explosion outside Aleppo University, January 15 Syria's Higher Education Minister Malik Ali expressed his keenness on Tuesday to develop the operations of his ministry in different parts in the country, calling on his staff to submit proposals for ways to monitor strengths and weaknesses of the department’s work.
Ali said it was important to bear responsibility for making the right decisions to achieve the interests of the public, adding that laws and regulations should be used to help society develop. The minister said the higher education department should be dealing with diverse groups in, especially during the current critical period in the country.
The government official emphasised the need for developing management within higher education in the coming period, calling for meetings with administrative leaders to discuss suitable ways to develop the ministry’s work.
Syria’s 29-month-old war has transformed the lives of its university students, whose studies have been affected by attacks on universities, rising living costs, trauma outside of the classroom and displacement.
