Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Wednesday honoured a team of deaf students from Al Khawarizmi International College who developed Al Najdha (meaning Rescue in Arabic) app which disables keypads of mobile phones to prevent car drivers from using their devices for SMS texting while driving.
Using sign language, the students who collaborated with the Ministry of Interior to develop the smart app, thanked H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid "We are happy to receive this honour", they said.
"I am proud of you," H.H. Sheikh replied also in sign language. He praised the team for their efforts and noted that they are not inferior to others when it comes to innovation and development of advanced services that promote safety and security in society and improve services for all members of the public.
The honouring was part of the awarding ceremony of second Best m-Government Service Award, which recognises excellence in government service.
