Riyadh - Arab Today

Kuwaiti Minister of Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi The GCC states are keen on developing cooperation within education to meet the development expectations of the Gulf region, visiting Kuwaiti Minister of Education and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi said here Wednesday. Speaking to KUNA ahead of the 16th meeting of the GCC committee of ministers of higher education and scientific research due later today, Al-Mulaifi said that education was an integral part of development in the GCC region, noting that developing the individual was a key ingredient for any plans for advancement in the region.
He stressed that the meeting's goal of further pursuing development within education and scientific research would help countries in the region to seek progression in the future, transforming the GCC states from consumers to producers of ideas and science.
Several items will be discussed during the ministerial meeting, namely Qatar's proposal for joint investment within education as well as Kuwait's suggestion of providing equal opportunities and treatment for GCC students seeking education at Gulf universities and educational facilities.
Other issues connected to higher education cooperation among GCC countries would also be discussed during the meeting.
