Lebanese university
The professors' committee contracted by the Lebanese University started a sit-in on Wednesday In front of the government house in Riad Solh Square in downtown Beirut. They are protesting against the government not
implementing their demands. If the government does not concede professors are threatening to not start in the new study year.
The committee coordinator in the north Haytham Ezz eldeen delivered a speech entitled "to all the government, stop procrastination, we will not be in good faith after today."
The committee coordinator Merveit Balot said "we will not start the new studying year and will not stop the strike while the government isn't responding to our demands. We need a government that respect university professors to be fixed for full time permanent work in the university, or the government will bear consequences of not having a new studying year for students".
The committee member Samar Adham said that "we asked for an appointment and till now we didn’t receive any reply. we are fed up, we cannot wait anymore. Stop being careless to university professors' demands, we have asked for appointments tens of times and wereceived a weekly reply that next week president Mikati will set an appointment with you and we would wait for three or four months but so far nothing has happened".
we asked to meet more than half the ministers, even President Michel Suleiman but the result from his consultant is always say "the president is supporting you".
