Cairo University finalized on Monday its arrangements for a ceremony to bestow the honorary doctorate degree on Saudi King Salman Bin Abdal Aziz Al Saud.
The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and a host of ministers , the Giza governor, universities' presidents, Cairo university professors and staff and members of the diplomatic crops accredited to Egypt.
The Saudi King is scheduled to arrive at Cairo University later in the day. The king will be received by Cairo University President Dr. Gaber Nassar.
The ceremony will start by reciting verses of the Holy Quran and then the university's president will give a word on the occasion.
Cairo University had granted an honorary doctorate to a number of leaders. After two years from its establishment, the university's council awarded an honorary doctorate to the late American president Theodore Roosevelt in 1910, King Hassan II of Morocco in 1965, French president Giscard d'Estaing in 1975, Senegalese president Abdou Diouf in 1985, and African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela in 1990.
