School primarily established to teach nobility
Alexandria - Ahmed Khalid

School primarily established to teach nobility Alexandria’s Victoria College is one of the most prestigiousn international schools founded at the beginning of the twentieth century; it is a unique school due to its distinguished educational achievement and architectural style.
The school was established primarily to teach nobility. A large number of prominent kings and princes have graduated from it including: King Faisal, Jordan's King, Hussein Bin Talal, in addition to Prince Zeid Rifai, and Bulgaria's King Simeon II.
Furthermore, a number of artists and intellectuals from the Arab world, including actors Omar Sharif and Ahmed Ramzy, and
Palestinian writer Edward Said also graduated from the school.Victoria College was founded in 1902 under Evelyn Baring, the British
ruler of Egypt at the time.
Since its establishment, the college adopted a teaching level similar to the level of education in the British Empire. It also insisted on
banning any religious teaching be it Islamic or Christian, which irritated the British Foreign Office.
The school grew famous and popular during World War II, especially amongst the nobility of Europe and Egypt. A number of sons of ruling families in the Arab world joined it. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill visited the school during the war..
