The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) has announced a gathering of media professionals from across Europe and the Islamic world, the first of its kind, to combat Islamophobia in global media outlets
. The event will take place in Lille, France, between December 21-22.
Journalists from European and Muslim countries will jointly participate in the forum - alongside news agencies, media professionals and experts in media law and human rights - to address mutual stereotypes between Muslims and the West.
One of the most important objectives of the event will be in detecting the causes for the Islamophobic phenomenon and the positive role the media can play in addressing it.
There will also be a roundtable discussion on enhancing cooperation between Islamic media institutions and their counterparts in Europe.
