Aljazeera and Alarabiya have been heavily criticized in a Facebook campaign titled “the people want to topple Aljazeera” and “Marching” by a number of Algerian and Syrian saboteurs. Algerian newspaper
Ennahar said that Algerian saboteurs have responded to the channel (Aljazeera) that opened its doors “wide open to prejudice against all that is Algerian,” and Alarabiya as well; accusing them both of various things including being an agent for Israel. Ennahar added that the channel’s Facebook page was bombarded with comments of more than 100,000 within an hour, at 9pm on Wednesday, by Algerian and Syrian saboteurs, which led to the channel deleting a large number of those comments that described Aljazeera as one that presents phony advertising campaigns that are there to serve the West and Israel’s demands and also accused it of trying to stir things up in various countries. Other Algerian saboteurs have succeeded in jamming the frequency of Alarabiya which caused it to change the frequency it transmits its channel on.
The newspaper reported that Algerians and Syrians also verbally attacked Qatar’s ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani accusing him of being an agent for Israel and expressed their surprise at his support for the Arab revolutions by providing them with weapons and money, as he has always kept quiet in the past about the USA’s crimes in Fallujah in Iraq and Israel’s massacres against Palestinians.
The saboteurs have said in their Facebook comments that they categorically refuse any intervention by those channels in Algeria’s internal issues, after declaring a “marching” day on the channel. Other Algerians wrote down parts of their national anthem and posted photo-shopped pictures of Aljazeera; one picture showed Aljazeera and a picture of devils with the caption “Aljazeera seeks the Devil’s help in spreading sedition.” Other captions read: “zanga zanga house house in Alkhanzeera (referring to Aljazeera as a pig) light a fire,” in addition to other comments recalling Algerian victories and its revolution, and the political changes it witnessed over the years, stating that they refuse to go back to the years of “tears and blood,” pointing out that the Algerian revolution happened when other countries were fast asleep. They explained that the reason for “marching” over Aljazeera this way is to set in stone an electronic revolution which history will remember them by.
Ennahar pointed out that other Facebookers reported Aljazeera’s Facebook page to Facebook administrators for publishing speeches inciting to hatred and violence, in an attempt of those Facebookers to shut down Aljazeera. Furthermore, they heavily criticized Alarabiya for dedicating a version of their website in Hebrew, which the saboteurs described as being an agent for Israel.
