Toyota is producing its new hydrogen fuel cell car, and not everyone is excited about it.
The Mirai can drive 300 miles per charge, it can charge in less than five minutes, it has 153 horse power and will cost around $45,000. The company is making three vehicles a day for this first phase.
One prominent car producer doesn't think the car is anything special. Elon Musk, of the electric car company Tesla, has called them hydrogen "fool cells."
"It's just very difficult to make hydrogen, and store it, and use it in a car," Musk said at the Automotive News World Congress in January. "Hydrogen is an energy-storage mechanism; it is not a source of energy. So you have to get that hydrogen from somewhere."
"I don't want to turn this into a debate on hydrogen fuel cells, because I just think that they are extremely silly," Musk said.
