Located within Paediatric ward of SKMC
H.H. Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan has officially opened another two dedicated areas as part of the "Wanna Read?" initiative yesterday, at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, SKMC. Located within the Paediatric ward
of SKMC, two rooms have been given a makeover by the initiative at the direction of Her Highness. Also commissioned along with the redesigned areas are two mobile trolleys full of books to be available for children who are unable to leave their beds.
SKMC and the "Wanna Read?" initiative are both driven by a common goal of providing optimum levels of patient care, complementing each other - SKMC provides the highest medical standards for patients and the initiative encourages the healing process through reading.
The initiative, led by Sheikha Shamma, aims to give children in hospital a pleasant environment to recover during their stay. The room is a colourful and dedicated environment, full of books and games.
She said that the initiative would keep providing for the most precious members of the UAE community, stating: "We have only just begun; there are many more hospitals that need our help. We are working together towards the common goal of helping the children." SKMC, managed by Cleveland Clinic, is part of the SEHA Health System and owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
