Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision As with all other government organisations in the UAE, the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has aligned its strategy to the Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision to provide the highest levels of health insurance services and to offer an excellent business model for healthcare services in the region. The establishment of Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council in 2009 was an important step to build a quality national infrastructure that can facilitate and enable all sectors, including healthcare, to achieve their goals in terms of quality.
Speaking at the Hospital Build '&' Infrastructure Exhibition '&' Congress from 2-4 Jun 2014 in Dubai, UAE, Dr Rehab Al Ameri, Senior Specialist of Conformity Assessment Body Services, Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, Abu Dhabi, UAE, will discuss the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and its role in creating an environment for making the private sector the main driver of economic growth in the healthcare sector together with creating employment opportunities for Emirati Nationals in the public and private sectors.
"Due to the UAE's ageing population, there is further anticipation for more healthcare facilities to fill the increase in demand," says Dr Al Ameri. "The latest advancement in the Abu Dhabi healthcare sector is the efforts taken by HAAD in cooperation with SEHA to enhance the availability of specialty care provided by the government and private hospitals and healthcare centres such as the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) Paediatric Kidney Transplantation Service; Tawam Hospital and Lifeline Hospital providing mobile breast cancer screening services; and specialist cancer treatment at the Gulf International Cancer Centre." Another noteworthy advancement has been the adaptation of world-class quality care with regularly monitored and published quality outcomes. For example, a reduction in the mortality of children under 5 from 8.7/1000 live births to 6.2/1000 live births from 1999-2009.
According to Dr Al Ameri, "The Abu Dhabi Government quickly recognised the need for mandatory access to healthcare via mandatory health insurance and that this would become the nucleus of the database for the healthcare system. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi was the first to implement such a system covering the all national and expatriate communities within one year of commencing the project."
