Actress is thrilled about how well her acting career is going
Egyptian actress Houriya Farghali has been moving steadily towards stardom with a variety of roles on the big and small screen.
Speaking exclusively to Arabstoday, the actress described
her role in TV drama al-Muntakem (The Revenge) as "a turning point" in her career and said she is still shooting her scenes in the series Bedoun thikr asmaa (No Names) which will go out in Ramadan. The script for No Names was written by none other than Waheed Hamed, and the series co-stars Ruby, Ahmed el-Fishawi, Safwa, Farida Seif el-Nasr, Walid Fawaz, Mohammed Farrag, Salwa Khattab and Nahed Rushdie. The drama, directed by Tamer Mohsen, will also feature a number of cameo appearances by such stars as Iyad Nassr and Essaad Younes.
"Juggling shooting two projects at the same time is exhausting, but it's worth the effort because both are valuable works," said the actress, who is also shooting a film, Nazariey ammeti (Auntie's Theory) in which she stars alongside Hassan el-Raddad, Hassan Hosni, Lebleba and Inas Kamel. The film was written by Amr Taher and directed by Akram Farid. "I hope it will be a hit," Farghali said.
The actress told Arabstoday her strategy with rumour and gossip is to ignore it all, saying she has learnt not to care. The actress denied reports that she accused director Khaled Youssef of causing her problems and disowned her part in Kallemni shokran (Plz Call Me). The remark she had made, she told us, was "If I were in the same position again and was offered the role, I would deliberate a lot before saying yes."
But the actress says she is "thrilled" that her career is very active now, as she is filming two projects while two more, with producer Ahmed el-Sobki, are in pre-production, including the film Tabadul zawgat (Wife Swap) with Karim Mahmoud Mahmoud Abdel Aziz and Amy Samir Ghanem.
She is also very happy with the feedback she has received for The Revenge, which is currently being repeated on MBC Masr. She credits the series' success with the script, the cast's performances, the direction and a bright production company.
The Revenge co-stars Amr Youssef, Ahmed el-Saadani, Sameh el-Sreiti, Shams, Mohammed Abu Dawood, Inas Kamel, Ammas Shalak, Walid Fawaz, Afaf Hamdi, Inaam Salousa, Magdi Badr, Hanan Sleiman, Shatha, Amira Hani, Reem Helal, Mahmoud el-Bazawi, Ihab Fahmi, Mona Hussein and Fatma el-Nasser. It was the work of Syrian director Hatem Ali.
Houriya Farghali's latest release was Abdu Mouta (Abdu Deadly) in which she co-starred alongside Mohammed Ramadan and Rehab el-Gammal. It was written by Mohammed Samir Mabrouk and directed by Ismail Farouk.
