Egyptian artist Samir Ghanem
Cairo – Hazem Al Masri
Rumours have circulated in the past few hours about the death of Egyptian artist Samir Ghanem, panicking his family and friends.
Arabstoday asked Ghanem’s wife,Dalal Abdel Aziz
, about her husband’s health, and she responded, smiling: “Don’t jinx the man; he’s very well thank God.”
Ghanem himself said: “I’m fine, where do people come up with such rumours?”
Dalal added: “Thank God he’s well; I don’t know why people would spread such a rumour, which is obviously a really big deal for us. Many journalists and artists have called me crying because they thought the news was true. As soon as Ghanem heard the rumour, he cried his eyes out wondering why anyone would say such a horrible thing.”
The news came after several websites claimed that the artist had died of a heart attack this morning.
Dalal denied knowledge of the source of the rumour and its objective, although said that they received hundreds of phone calls once the news spread.
She described the rumour as “very annoying” and “horrible.”
Ghanem will appear on Al Haya in the program “Masaa el jamal with Mirvat and Dalal” on Monday.
