The Egyptian actress Horia Farghali
Cairo - Hazem Almasri

The Egyptian actress Horia Farghali The Egyptian actress Horia Farghali denied she was getting married to Egyptian actor Haitham Ahmed Zaki, saying “these kind of rumors may cause trouble for Haitham and me if he is engaged.”We sat down for an interview with Horia Farghali where she shared her most recent experiences with us:
AT: First of all what is the story behind your supposed engagement with Haitham Ahmed Zaki?
Horia Farghali: This is a completely untrue story. I only met Haitham two months ago and these kind of rumours can be very damaging especially as if he is engaged, furthermore I may have to refuse to work with him on future projects in order to quell these rumours.
AT: How did you find the feedback on your role in Kaf El Qamar (The Moon's Palm) movie?
Horia Farghali: I did not expect the positive reactions. Many have praised my role as a belly dancer and how I made it in a non-vulgar way. And that made me pleased, because I made great efforts to change people’s opinion after my role in Kalmni Shukran or (Please Call Me) movie, as they knew me as an “erotic actress”.
AT: Did you attend any belly dancing classes?
Horia Farghali: No, I didn’t, as I already love belly dancing and I love to play these kind of roles. In addition,‘Tanora’s role” in a Folk art group has made me want to do more.
AT: Is Khaled Youssef’s name in a movie enough for you to accept a project?
Horia Farghali: Yes, for sure, because I trust Khaled Youssef, and I can work with him in any movie, he wants me in, as he was the one who discovered me in his movie Kalmni Shukran, also he was the one who nominated me to the director Khaled El-Hagar to work in his TV series ‘Duran Shubra’ or (Shubra’s Square).
AT: This is your second sexually charged movie how do you find that?
Horia Farghali: It's just a coincidence, when I made my first role in ‘Radd Fea’l’ or (The Reaction) movie, which has not screened yet that wasn’t my intention but I was convinced of the director Karim Al-Adl’s point of view in the film, especially after I watched his first movie ‘Walad wa Bent’ or (A boy and A girl).
AT: Did you expect ‘Duran Shubra’s’ success?
Horia Farghali: No, I didn’t expect such a success, but I expected that people would love it, but it has achieved great success, and that was because of the state of love between the crew. In addition, it was the first time for the director Al-Hagar in TV, and it achieved great success as his work in cinema.
AT: Did the fact that you will be at the screen without any makeup bother you in ‘Duran Shubra’?
Horia Farghali: Not at all, Khaled Al-Hagar’s view in this point was that my role was the poor girl ‘Azza’, and I had to make it without makeup to be more realistic, and this didn’t bother me at all.
AT: Do you think working on the drama added to your experience?
Horia Farghali: Of course, in particular I made very complicated drama works at the time I had no movies to work on, so the drama introduced me well, and added to my experience even though I loved the movie more; but I do not deny that the drama has great credit on, and whenever I get a good role, I accept it immediately.
AT: What about your upcoming TV series ‘Hekayat El-Banat’ or (Girl’s Stories)?
Horia Farghali: Director Hossam Khairi was the one who chose me for this role, and it’s about girl’s problems in Middle East and Arab world.
AT: Do you accept to work in any work about Egypt’s 25th January Revolution?
Horia Farghali: No, because I think the revolution did not achieve its goals, its too early to work on something about that topic quite yet.
