Zaki returns to the screen after 6 years
Egyptian actress Mona Zaki has said she is “not bothered” about a naked photograph purporting to be of Zaki currently doing the rounds on Facebook.
The star said the photo was “doctored.”
“I was surprised the media made such a big thing of it,” she said. “These kinds of pictures are very widespread on the Internet. Doesn’t Egypt have enough problems at the moment than a doctored picture of some actress?”
Zaki called on Facebook users to stop spreading the photograph in question.
The actress meanwhile celebrated her return to the small screen with drama Assia’s World, which will be released in Ramadan 2013.
“The script was so good, it handled to plot so delicately,” Zaki said, revealed that she had been “deeply moved” when she first read the script.
"What really made me take on this project was that I really missed being in Egyptian people’s homes after being away for six years," she added.
Zaki last appeared in Cinderella, a biopic about the life of late Egyptian movie legend Soad Hosni.
Despite earlier press statements that the actress was retiring from television work following the death of Ismail Abdel Hafez, Zaki said: “I grieved for him, yes, especially because I owe him a debt of gratitude for casting me in The Family in 1994. He banked on me and thankfully I was able to prove myself.”
