Justin Bieber faces opposition from Muslim groups in Oman
Canadian superstar-singer Justin Bieber, who announced the cancellation of his May concert in Oman on Tuesday, has allegedly upset Muslim scholars in the country, who feared for the ‘moral health’ of their women.
Oman concert organisers Alive Entertainment said fans in Muscat would either receive a refund for their tickets, or they could exchange them for a newly added date in Dubai on May 5. Bieber is also due to perform there on May 4.
Alive Entertainment gave no reason for the cancellation in their press statement, but it appears to have been pulled by the promoters after the Baby singer was condemned by Muslim clerics as “too sexy” and a threat to the ‘moral health’ of Muslim women.
“People didn’t want him coming to Oman. He was called a reprobate and words were used like debauchery and Haraam, which in Islam means a sinful act that displeases God,” a source revealed to the Daily Star.
The pop sensation was allegedly facing opposition from anti-Bieber groups in anticipation of his arrival in Oman.
