Lebanese musician and actress Carole Samaha
Lebanese musician and actress Carole Samaha says she is not afraid of staying in Egypt for the next few days, despite the ongoing political uncertainty.
The entertainer said she would return to Lebanon shortly for her show al-Sayeda (The Lady).
Samaha told Arab Today: "I spent 35 years in Lebanon during the civil war, so I'm used to all this. I'm not afraid of a popular revolution.
"I would urge Egyptians to remain steadfast, and support the army without worrying, because God will protect Egypt.
In terms of her showbiz career, Samaha ruled out the possibility of working in a television drama, adding her singing takes priority. "It would be difficult for me act in another drama, because the series require you to be on set all the time.
"During the shooting of al-Shahroura Series, I had to put everything on hold for a year, including my music. I can't do it. I love being on stage, it is my territory. I don't like to see my work being edited, like it is in movies or television," she explained.
Samaha said she would continue working in al-Sayeda after she recovers from back pain.
The Lebanese singer described her experience as a judge on X Factor Arabia as "really difficult".
"In the last few years, when I was a guest on talent shows, I never understood how the judges give their feedback. Now that I am one of the judges, I can how difficult it really is.
"I can make or break a young talent's career. There is also the additional politics in the Arab world where if you vote against someone from a country; people of that country think that you don’t like them. This mentality only exists in the Arab world," she claimed.
Samaha also compared X Factor Arabia with Arab Idol, saying: "This is the first season of X Factor, so there were bound to be mistakes and glitches. In terms of Arab Idol, the current season is much better than the previous one, and so, I think the next season of X Factor will be much better too."
The performer confirmed that talks about being a judge on the second season of X Factor Arabia are yet to take place.
