Jomana Murad
Cairo – Marwa Yehya

Jomana Murad Cairo – Marwa Yehya Syrian actress, Jomana Murad has denied rumours that her role in the film ‘Kaf Al-Qamar’ includes seductive scenes.  Jomana has confirmed in an interview with ‘Arabstoday’ that her work with director Khaled Yousif does not mean she is ready to play seductive roles.
"Yousif is fully aware of my limits,  and I don’t know on what basis my scenes were classified as seductive,” she said.
The artist considers the role as a turning point in her career, in which she embodies the character of a poor, ignorant girl who seeks to solve her problems by committing sins. The character promises to be multi-faceted, one that will audience will hate and sympathise with at the same time. The girl is portrayed to be a victim of the society she lives in, striking a chord with many girls who might suffer from the same problems.
Jomana, who has been accused of being typecast into the same role, claimed that the character demanded a different style and performance method.
"I personally love to play the role of a poor girl, and I'm not the first actress who plays similar roles, but I was chosen despite me being Syrian, which means I fit the role,” she said.
Jomana believes that each character she plays is quite distinct, and the reason she likes to choose such roles is because they address the largest segment of Arab society as well as characterised by realism.
Regarding her work with the director, Khaled Yousif for the first time, Jomana said: “I have played the role of a poor girl before, but Yousif offered it to me very differently this time, and I can’t express my happiness at working with him. I believe in him and his dedication to work, he is very faithful to the actors who work with him, which makes the actors focus more and do a better job.”
“If Khaled asked me to come and play any other role, even if it is one scene, I will go without even thinking,” she said.
She added that her work with Yousif made her reject many recent offers,  as working with Yousif made her unable to work with any other director. “Khaled Yousif is able to bring out things or talents that an actor hasn’t even discovered know that he has,” she said.
About releasing her film with two other famous actors, Ahmed Helmi and Ahmed Mecki, Jomana said: “Competition is really important, and I’m glad that my film will be released during a very important film season where different movies will be screened …I expect the film will have a good impact on audiences and critics as it very close to reality.”
Regarding the political nature of the film, which was linked to the events of the Arab Spring, Jomana said: “There are a lot of analyses, some have reviewed my role as a neighboring country that plays around on a self-serving political level …at the end of the day, everyone has the right to have their own view and analysis of the film.”
“This is something unique to Khaled Yousif’s films,” she smiled.
Jomana said she wouldn’t mind playing a guest role as long as she worked with a good team, allowing her to leave a good, impactful impression on the audience.
She pointed out that she is not obsessed with playing the lead.
Jomana also talked about her new drama series “Alexandria people” which has been postponed after it was supposed to have been filmed last Ramadan, in addition to “Gola”, a film with Hani Gerges which was also postponed.
She also said that she is considering offers for future roles.
