Egyptian actress Nadia al-Gindy
Egyptian actress Nadia al-Gindy has told Arabstoday that she is preparing for a new television series named "al-Hob wel Selah" (Love and Arms), which is adopted from a short stories anthology
by famous author and journalist, Adel Hamouda. The script is written by Rawya Rashed.
Nadia said: "I wanted to repeat my success with Rawya Rashed after our show 'Queen Nazly'."
Nadia revealed the series is being produced by her ex-husband Mohammed Mokhtar, but she denied rumours that they had re-married.
"I'm not married to him again, but we will remain very close friends, as we have known each other for more than 25 years now. When he was married to another woman he was still a close friend of mine, and if we are married again I will tell people, but for now we are just friends," said Nadia.
Nadia said this year has been good for her, as she witnessed the marriage of her only son Hisham, who is also the son of the actor Emad Hamdi.
On whether she would ever return to cinema, Nadia said: "That depends on finding the right project, as my last movie was 'al-Raghba' (The Desire) which was produced 10 years ago and directed by Ali Badrakhan, and I don't want to participate in a movie that is not as good, nor to work with a director not in the same league as Ali Badrakhan."
When asked about her relationships with her peers, Nadia answered: "I share good relations with all of them, but my closest friends are Nabila Ebeid and Elham Shahin, which is very strange as I had some disputes with them that lasted for several years. But there's an Egyptian proverb that says 'True love doesn't happen except after hostility'."
On how she spends her free time, she said: "If I don't have work commitments, I spend most of the time playing sports, particularly running and horse riding, starting at 8am everyday."
