Iraqi singer Majed El Mohandes
Iraqi artist Majed El Mohandes has spoken exclusively to Arabstoday about his work with the artist Mohammed Abdo.
Their recent collaboration is second time that the pair have worked together.
Previously the duo cooperated on Ezkouriny (Remember Me), a song composed Abdo, and sang by Mohandes. This time around the talented artists have switched places, with Mohandes on songwriting duty.
Mohandes told Arabstoday that "this cooperation honors me, I am proud to sing with Mohammed Abdo." Mohandes stated that there are many creative challenges in front of him, and working with people like Mohammed Abdo will help to express himself.
The Iraqi artist said he equally enjoys composing and singing, and denied choosing his best melodies for himself saying, "I do not feel selfish at all, if the melody serves me I will sing it, if not another artist will sing it.”
Mohandes credited talent programmes in helping discover amateur singers, saying that they “shed light on the voice of promising singers in the Arab world. We need such programmes to enhance the future of beautiful sounds.”
The singer also said that he had studied numerous new contracts after his current recording contract expired, stating his desire to find a production company that will meet his “artistic aspirations” for next stage of his career.
Mohammed Abdo, expressed his respect and appreciation for Mohandes, praising the singers “gracious manners” and “beautiful with distinctive words.”
