Emirati singer and songwriter Hamdan Al Abri
The Emirati singer and songwriter Hamdan Al Abri will join the jazz legend Herbie Hancock in concert on March 21 at the Abu Dhabi Festival (ADF).
"It's a huge moment in my career to be playing alongside a legend. I feel blessed and cannot
wait to share the stage with Herbie Hancock,” said Al Abri, who will also participate in a live jam session at the education initiative The Space Sessions: Capital Vibes, at The Space, TwoFour54 on March 5 from 6pm to 9pm.
The ADF begins on Sunday with its nationwide education and community programmes. Its main programme of performances runs from March 21 to 31, with the sound artist Bill Fontana's exhibition, a world premiere, continuing until April 20.
Other musical collaborations from past editions of ADF include Wynton Marsalis playing with the Oudh player Nasser Shamma and Gilberto Gil's performance with the Egyptian singer Dina El ¬Wedidi.
