The idea of drama writing workshops emerged a few years ago, and producers considered it a good opportunity to escape the large amounts paid to some famous drama writers. Arabs today tried to get to know the opinions of the critics in the writing workshops, whether they were a real alternative to the great writers or do not have sufficient experience in the field.
In the beginning, the great writer Bashir Al-Deek, refused the idea of drama writing workshops, because it is far from the idea of a single spirit of work, adding that the dramatic action is an integral structure and the scenario can not be separated from dialogue.
"Despite the success of some of the experiences of writing workshops, but that the full compatibility was not present enough, because the human mind is one and indivisible, for example twins do not have the same way of thinking, but there may be someone responsible for the story of work and another for script and dialogue," he indicated. He pointed out that some producers resort to writing workshops to save expenses, explaining that writing workshops will succeed in works and fail in other.
For critic Magda Khairallah, she believes that the success of the drama writing workshops depends on the presence of a specialized person who follows the writing or the workshop and supervises the writing, and is aware of the thinking of the writers in the workshop. "This means that the success of the writing workshops, whether negative or positive, depends on the presence of a leader who specializes in writing and follows up all the details of writing the work," she added.
For his part, writer Walid Youssef, said that writing workshops are not a new phenomenon, but they exist in another way, for example before the beginning of writing, any work is held working, sessions are held with the author of the story of the work, the director and the protagonist, to agree on the outlines of the work and then the writer will write the script and dialogue. He added that he is not against the idea of writing workshops because it enriches the drama with new ideas.
The writer, Sama Abdel Khalek, who co-wrote the series "Halawet El Donya", confirmed that the writing was under the supervision of the screenwriter, Tamer Habib. She also participated in writing "Grand Hotel" series last year, adding that the success of writing workshops depends primarily on consensus and satisfaction, which is also a big reason for the success of any work.
