Tunisian minister of investment and international cooperation Riadh Bettaieb Tunis – Nebil Zaghdoud The Tunisian minister of investment and international cooperation Riadh Bettaieb has said that his country will sign next week an accession deal for the International Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), after it fulfilled all the criteria for membership.
Battaieb said in an interview with Arabstoday that the French capital, Paris, will host the accession ceremony, in the presence of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Turkey current holds presidency of the organisation, which is changed on a rotational basis.
"This will contribute to the opening up of public and private sectors in most Arab, Islamic, European, Western and African countries on joint investment in Tunisia," he said.
"Tunisia’s enrollment will open opportunities for its developmentt," he added.
The OECD was founded in 1961, and is based in Paris. It comprises 31 developed countries committed democracy and a free market economy. The organisiation supports growth, recruitment, improvement, raises living standards, and contributes towards financial stability and the growth of international trade.
Tunisia, which is a member of the World Trade Organisation, had delayed joining the OECD, which limited its investment potential.
