Rabat- Yousif Abdelatif

The new agreement will improve condtions for Spanish fishermen A new four year protocol to the Fisheries Partnership Agreement signed by the European Union and Morocco receives support by the Spanish government, as it improves fishing opportunities for the country's fleet.
Spanish media reported the agreement will mean an improvement of conditions for Spanish fishermen, noting that the agreement came after a recent visit by the Spanish king to Rabat.
According to newspapers, the Spanish delegation had the fishing issue as a top priority during the visit, underlining that the Spanish fleet represents over 70 percent of the European fishing fleet.
Spain’s Minister of Agriculture, Arias Cañete, said that the Spanish government is satisfied with the conclusion of the negotiation of an agreement.
After nine months of negotiations, the agreement will allow Spanish fishing vessels to return to Moroccan waters.
The minister said that the agreement represents an upgrading over the previous protocol as fishing opportunities have been improved, increasing on the fleet’s profitability.
