Pure Gold wants to target tourist destinations next year
Pure Gold Jewellers is expanding its operation to Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka, in the first leg of plans to target tourist destinations. The Dubai-based retailer is opening 11 new stores in the next two months, six
in Saudi Arabia and five in Sri Lanka.
In a statement, Karim Merchant, CEO and managing director of Pure Gold Jewellers, said: "We are excited to start operations in Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. We are commencing operations in Saudi Arabia with six stores at the moment and we plan to increase it to over 10 stores within a year's time and then take it to 50 stores within the next three to four years. We are starting in Sri Lanka with five stores which will all be fully operational over the next three months and eventually we plan to open ten stores in accordance with our chairman's vision to be present in key tourist destinations in Asia."
The company is keen to expand with outlets in destinations like Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius. In September, it opened a store at Queen Alia International airport in Amman.
Pure Gold Jewellers has two factories in India and one in China. It is planning to open 25 new outlets in Turkey, Jordan, Morocco and Lebanon next year.
