Emirates NBD in Cairo
Emirates NBD celebrated the official inauguration of the Emirates NBD Egypt Head Office in Cairo on 8 April 2014. The new subsidiary also launched its brand during the auspicious ceremony that was attended by Egypt's Deputy Central Bank
Governor Nidal Assar and Consul General of the United Arab Emirates Hamad Al Mansoori.
Honouring the proceedings with their presence were Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Chairman of Emirates NBD Egypt, Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Shayne Nelson, Giel-Jan van der Tol, the new Managing Director of Emirates NBD Egypt, and other members of the Board of Directors.
Other attendees included Shahinaz Foda and Pierre Delhaise, both Deputy Managing Director of Emirates NBD Egypt, and other members of the senior management team from the local subsidiary.
In line with the UAE investors' strong interest in the Egyptian market, Emirates NBD is one of a group of successful UAE businesses currently active in Egypt. The establishment of Emirates NBD Egypt brings together the bank's local expertise, customer base and knowledge of the Egyptian market with the regional strength of Emirates NBD.
Speaking at the event, Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Chairman of Emirates NBD Egypt said, "The UAE has a long history of economic and business ties with Egypt, and I am delighted to be here to share yet another momentous occasion.
This special occasion reflects the cooperation between the two countries and our gathering signifies one of the most prominent geographical expansions that Emirates NBD has undertaken till date. The opening of our Head Office in Cairo is a true testament to Emirates NBD's regional strength and is evidence of the Group's keen interest in contributing to the Egyptian economy." Giel-Jan van der Tol, Managing Director of Emirates NBD Egypt, commented on the future plans of Emirates NBD in Egypt. He said, "Our commitment to the local bank and our clients is evident in the ambitious, yet entirely achievable, goals that we have set for ourselves in Egypt. We are planning to roll out unique new products and services that will give our clients an unparalleled banking experience. Building on the already strong infrastructure that the bank has in place, we plan to become one of the top players in Egypt's banking arena." The official launch of the Emirates NBD brand in Egypt and the Emirates NBD Egypt Head Office reflect the Bank's growth aspirations and ability to successfully bring its wide range of innovative banking services into the Egyptian market. Leveraging its strong technological infrastructure, experience in the region and extensive relationships across regional markets, Emirates NBD is expected to bring large-scale benefits to its customers and the Egyptian economy as a whole.
