Cairo - Akram Ali

All the businessmen included in the US delegation are direct investors A 117-person business delegation from the United States has arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for a three day visit. The United States will be considering investment opportunities in the major Arab state after the political change that took place in the country as a result of the January 2011 revolution — which toppled the US long standing ally, ousted President Hosni Mubarak. This will be the biggest US delegation to have ever visited Egypt and includes 117 businessmen and state officials, representing 50 companies and institutions as well as the US State Department.Chairman of the Egyptian-US Trade Chamber, Gamal Moharram said to Arabstoday that all the businessmen included in the US delegation are direct investors; this highlights a serious investment interest from the US companies which could aid in a considerable amount of foreign capitals being injected into the Egyptian economy in the near future.
Directly after their arrival, the US business delegation will hold a meeting with the Egyptian Prime Minister, Hisham Qandil, at the headquarters of the Egyptian-US Trade Chamber in Cairo. Qandil is expected to give the US businessmen a general overview about the investment opportunities in Egypt, before letting them hold direct meetings with Egyptian businessmen. The US delegation will then meet the Egyptian Minister of Investments, Osama Saleh the following day.
The US businessmen and officials are also expected to meet with Egyptian economic experts and journalists to take a broader view on the current state of the political and economic situation in the country from both official and non-official sources.
