The Public Museum of the Great Syrian Revolution Monument
The Public Museum of the Great Syrian Revolution Monument in al-Qraya Town in Sweida Province narrates the glorious achievements of the revolutionists and their heroism in facing the French
colonization as it embraces their weapons, banners, photos and the special documents of the revolution.
Director of Sweida Antiquities Department, Wasim al-Sha'arani, said that the Museum was classified as a first-class site, adding that the acquisitions of the Museum convey a humanitarian message about the stories of the revolutionist antecedents and the weapons they used in their battles against the colonization to achieve the independence.
He indicated that the Museum encompasses a French cannon captured by the Syrian revolutionists in al-Kafir battle in 1925, and it was unearthed in 1986 near al-Ain Dam in Sweida.
Three Arab swords and 15 bayonets are also displayed in the Museum, in addition to six French rifles, 13 ancient rifles of various types and six machineguns, and all the acquisitions are displayed in wall cupboards.
Al-Sha'arani indicated that the Museum includes banners of different villages in Sweida and documents and correspondences between the revolutionists along with a number of wall paintings embodying the events of the Great Syrian Revolution.
A lecture hall and an auditorium which accommodates 300 persons are affiliated to the Museum as well as the acoustic equipment and other utilities.
