Jedariya, the compelling new live outdoor street art initiative by Sharjah's innovative contemporary visual arts hub, Maraya Art Centre, has delivered its first visual masterpiece, an elaborate calligraphy-style mural on the walls of a building in Bank Street, by acclaimed street artist, ‘eL Seed' Known for his unique style ‘calligraffiti', fusing elements of both the graffiti and Arabic calligraphic traditions, eL Seed drew crowds of spectators over the ten days it took to complete the mural. eL Seed, who started the massive project on the 28th of January, found his inspiration in a beautiful poem by acclaimed Sharjah poet Ahmed Bu Snida, which has become a well-known and beloved song in Sharjah.
Conceived by Maraya Art Centre – an initiative by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq, "Jedariya" will be an ongoing initiative in aid of beautifying Sharjah's streets in order to attract more tourists to the Emirates while involving Sharjah's diverse youth population with the arts. The next exciting project will be announced soon.
