Shehata is close to completing a deal to take over as the club’s coach Qatari side, Al-Arabi, have announced that Hassan Shehata is close to completing a deal to take over as the club’s coach. In spite of a difficult stint with Egyptian giants, Zamalek, Which was curtailed in July after defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals, Al-Ahly, he is still revered in his homeland for his reign as coach of the national team. During his stint in charge, The Pharaohs won an unprecedented three successive African Nations Cups in 2006, 2008, 2010.
“The board of directors convened on Thursday night to discuss nominations for the coach who will replace Frenchman Pierre Lechantre,” Al-Arabi said in a statement on their official website.
“We agreed to appoint Egyptian coach Hassan Shehata as the club’s new manager. We will open talks with him in the next few hours.”
