Feng's three-under-par 69 was good enough for victory on final day
Chinese golfer Shanshan Feng proved her golfing credentials with victory in the Dubai Ladies Masters, despite a three-under par 69 on the final day and the lowest overall four-day score.
The 23-year old beat Netherlands' Dewi Claire
Schreefel into second place to claim the €500,000 cash prize.
At the par-72 Majlis course of Emirates Golf Club, it was Schreefel who had a realistic chance of clinching the prize going into the final day. However, her score of 63 meant she closed with a 16-under par 272. Becky Brewerton of Wales and Germany’s Caroline Masson were tied in third place on a 12-under-par 276.
Feng told reporters: "At the beginning of the day, I told myself that I needed to shoot a five-under par 67 round and nobody would be able to catch me thereafter. That did not happen, but a 69 was really a good round considering there was a bit of wind out there on the golf course and nobody made a charge at me."
The victory in the final tournament of the Ladies European Tour season was Feng's sixth win of the season and eighth since August last year.
