Amir Khan is floored by world champion Danny Garcia
British boxer Amir Khan knows he has to beat American Carlos Molina convincingly, if he is to become a world champion once again.
The 26-year old has suffered back-to-back defeats against Lamont Peterson
and Danny Garcia, which makes Saturday night's clash against little-known Molina at the Los Angeles Sport Arena a must-win bout.
The fight will be Khan's first since he moved trainers from Los Angeles based Freddie Roach to California's defence master Virgil Hunter. The fighter who was shocked by Garcia in July, is hoping to gain some much needed confidence with the new set up.
He told reporters: "You will see a new Amir Khan come into this fight. The training I've been doing with Virgil Hunter has been great, including work on new techniques, new skills and I will be a totally different fighter."
His 27-year old opponent is unbeaten and comes into the fight as a heavy underdog, much like Garcia was in July. For Molina, victory will many more doors of opportunity. "We're going to come out of nowhere and shock the world. Beating Khan is going to catapult me to that level where everybody is going to know who I am," he said.
Boxing experts feel defeat for Khan will leave him with no other option but to retire from the sport.
