The Egyptian Football Association (EFA)
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has announced that the Egyptian Premier League season will begin in mid-December.
The decision was made after a meeting held by the EFA's board of directors on Thursday.
The EFA also decided to notify the authorities concerned about the start of the Premier League season.
All domestic football activity has been suspended since February when scores of spectators died in clashes between rival fans in the Port Said Stadium.
The new league season was due to start on October 17, but the EFA said it would not be able to hold the competition, citing a lack of response from the interior ministry.
Ahly's die-hard fans "Ultras Ahlawy" have said more than once that they would stop the resumption of football activity unless the perpetrators of the Port Said massacre were brought to justice.
