David Haye (L) takes a blow from Wladmir Klitschko in 2011
Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is considering retirement after being snubbed by the heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.
Haye's trainer Adam Booth has revealed he will sit down
with the British boxer to discuss his future after his hope of regaining a world title reached a dead end.
Booth told Telegraph newspaper: "I wrote to Bernd Boente, the Klitschkos manager, a few weeks ago, outlining the details for David to fight, the dates and so on, in a contest with Vitali [Klitschko, the World Boxing Council champion] and we have had nothing in return."
"David has made his feelings quite clear about wanting to fight Vitali before he [Vitali] retires. We have not even had a 'no, not interested, thanks'."
"David told me that he ‘can’t be bothered to wait for Vitali any more,’" Booth added.
Vitali is expected to make a voluntary defence of his WBC belt and may decide to Haye. However, the Ukrainian told local media last month that the 32-year-old had "missed his opportunity last September."
