Tunisia coach Sami Trabesli has apologised to the nation
Football fans in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco have been left frustrated by the poor performances of their national teams at this year's African Cup of Nations in South Africa
.
All three countries failed to qualify for the knock-out stages, leading the media, political organisations and pundits to question the future of national coaches.
In the Moroccan parliament, opposition politicians held Minister of Youth and Sport Mohamed Ouzzine responsible for consecutive sporting failures of the Moroccan national team, despite spending millions of dollars. They demanded that officials present a report about the participation of the Moroccan team in the African championship, before handing in their resignations for disappointing thousands of Moroccan football fans.
In Tunisia, the media strongly criticised the performance of Sami Trabesli's men at the African Cup for finishing third in Group D and allowing Ivory Coast and Togo to qualify for the second round. The media channels and newspapers demanded Trabelsi resigns from his position immediately. Tunisian newspaper of el-Maghreb said the 44-year old was responsible for the "shocking displays" and subsequent early exit from the tournament.
In Algeria, Head of the Football Federation Mohamed Raouraoua pledged to work hard and improve the team ahead of World Cup 2014 qualification. He blamed the lack of experience for the poor performances, but publicly backed Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodži?.
