Mangal (R) has given Afghanistan a major boost in their World Cup qualification hopes
Afghan cricketer Nawroz Mangal scored a century to help his team beat Scotland in their ICC World Cricket League Championship clash in United Arab Emirates.The South Asian side
chased down the 200 target in the 34th over, in their bid to qualify for the 2015 World Cup.
Richie Berrington had top-scored for Scotland with 51 but Afghanistan started well in their innings and Mangal hit six sixes in an unbeaten 112 to take the game beyond the Scots.
Scotland are second in the table behind leaders Ireland on 11 points, but the Netherlands and UAE now have a game in hand and are just one point behind. Afghanistan are on nine.
Scotland meet Afghanistan in Sharjah again on Friday in the same tournament.
