Arab Today, arab today Syrian Ambassador: Damascus did not commit the crime

General Wissam al-Hassan
Beirut – Georges Chahine

General Wissam al-Hassan Beirut – Georges Chahine The General Secretariat of March 14 Bloc considered the assassination of General Wissam al-Hassan an easy task for al-Assad government which Lebanon allowed after being threatened of total destruction. The bloc blamed the current government with its head and supportive political forces of being responsible for facilitating al-Assad’s plan, which necessitates its step down in order to avoid risks and maintain stability.
The General Secretariat of March 14 Bloc held its periodic meeting with the presence of representatives of parties, factions, heads of March 14 student and youth organisations and civil society where they discussed the general situation in the country.
At the end of the meeting, they issued a statement stressing on the following points. Firstly they looked into the the assassination of Major General Hasan in an explosion in Ashrafieh as clear evidence of the Syrian regime’s decision to violate Lebanon in fulfillment with its open threats to widen the destruction. If this crime targeted a main pillar of the sovereign Lebanese security, it will only increase our determination on continuing the struggle for a free, independent Arab Lebanon and the current state in compliance with the assignments given by the constitution.
Secondly, the March 14 coalition holds the present government primarily responsible for facilitating President Assad's regime plan and regards its departure a principle condition for efforts to ward off dangers and secure stability
Thirdly, the March 14 coalition, which holds on to its objectives, renews its adherence to continue the struggle through all political, democratic, popular and peaceful means, away from deviations toward chaos and strife, with the testimony of the several events last of them what happened to the young man Ihab al-Ezzy.
The statement added: “We are confident that the Lebanese people can protect the project of the state. This is where the peaceful sit-in in front of the Grand Serail reflects a modern, peaceful, democratic expression for the sake of seeing the departure of the government.”
“On this occasion, March 14 forces considers the students, civilians and the leaders formed conscience of the movement. Among those Nadim Qatish who on Wednesday was subject to a cruel campaign because he spontaneously called the civil forces to sit in front of the Grand Serail, which will expand and we will not leave the scene until the night passes,” according to the statement.
The Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel-Karim Ali repeated that his country denounces the criminal act in Ashrafieh, killing al-Hassan and his companion and has nothing to do with it.
After his meeting with the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Adnan Mansour, the Syrian Ambassador said his country has nothing to do with the incident, and the talks concentrated on the fraternity between both countries and the last developments.
He added that the meeting focused on the integrity between the security of both countries, and consequently it necessitates coordination between both armies and security bodies on the borders to stop the plans of those who want to create strife in the region, not only in Syria and Lebanon.
He said: “Lebanon's stability is in the interest of Syria, which is facing a domestic crisis and a plot in which intelligence agents of Europe, the world and the region are implicated.”
The Syrian Ambassador stressed on the importance of missing the chances of the Israeli and European plots targeting blowing off the whole region from the inside, through Fundamentalist (or takfiri) groups and making use of the gaps in the infrastructure of any country so that the enemy and the Western greed take over the region’s resources.
He added that he believes the awareness between Syria and Lebanon is big and that stabilising the security in Lebanon is comforting to Syria because the security in Lebanon is also beneficial for Syria and enforces its security.
He said that Damascus is keen on the fraternity and the close cooperation with all what it includes guaranteeing the security of the Lebanese.
The Syrian Ambassador continued saying: “We are optimistic about Syria’s future and overcoming this crisis which all the evil forces of the world cooperated to tear, weaken and undermine its role. But they were surprised by its strength and the unity of its institutions, and the vision which analyses everything in details by the leadership, the army and the Syrian people with all its factions.”
He said that Syria is on its way to surprise all those because it is analysing its problems and crisis and is nominating all who work against Syria and its people.
