Head of Libyan Misrata Military Council Ibrahim Bin Rajab
Tripoli - Fatima Al Saadawy

Head of Libyan Misrata Military Council Ibrahim Bin Rajab decided to dissolve the city's provincial council calling the different sectors for performing their works normally and suspending their dealing with the council to keep the current democratic approach and peaceful transition of power.

Libyan military leader said, in a statement on late Tuesday, "Due to the recent developments witnessed in the city, Misrata's Military Council met with the city's Revolutionary Union, Security Directorate and the martyrs' families. We decided to exclude the provincial council which refused to accept our invitation to attend the meeting."

Bin Rajab called the security forces in the city for keeping the security of the city's districts and institutions from any attempts to raise the chaos during the coming period. The action came hours after the demonstrations witnessed in Misrata against the provincial council, as the demonstrators called for dissolving it and electing a new council.

The provincial council issues a statement responding to the decision, expressing its refusal to the decision. It said that there are parties working to impose their vision by force, saying that they will resume their work. It described the decision as a clear violation against its legitimacy and the will of those voted  for its members during the elections.

On the other hand, National Committee for Human Rights stressed its condemnation to the death sentences executed against a number of Benghazi's extremists away from judicial verdicts upon orders of military leaders. It warned of the repercussions of such approach which could smear the image of Libyan government.

On the political side, Spokesperson of Libyan House of Representatives Abdullah Belihaq said that the parliament's speaker Okila Saleh is in good health and has not suffered from any injuries during the recent incident that hit its procession.

In Tripoli, UN Envoy to Libya Martin Kobler said that he is ready to help the displaced people to return to their houses. He said that he held a meeting with a delegation from Mashashia tribe promising to support them for returning to their houses as soon as possible.
