Mubarak's trial postponed to Wednesday
Cairo – Akram Ali

Mubarak's trial postponed to Wednesday Cairo – Akram Ali The Cairo Criminal Court, headed by Judge Ahmed Refaat, decided on Monday to postpone the session of Mubarak's trial to Wednesday, February 22 in order to listen to the defence's last comments, as well as to decide on a date for the final verdict.
The first lawyer of the prosecution of the Court of Appeal, Mustafa Suleiman, said that El-Deeb's defence of Mubarak and demands for him to remain the President of the Republic is legally invalid. Suleiman stressed that the revolutionary legitimacy, according to the provisions of the Constitution, withdrew all the powers from Mubarak,, adding that he was ousted and did not leave by his own will.
Suleiman said that the actual doer of the protesters' killing is unknown and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) should have discovered his identity by now. However, this does not prevent the punishment of his arrested partners.
The representative of the prosecution said that demanding the issuance of the acquittal verdict is invalid, as the facts of the two claims are totally different, and stressed that Farid El-Deeb did not read the referral properly.
El-Deeb also accused the American University's Security of killing protesters, and said that the investigations have not found any other evidence, adding that Hamas and Hezbollah could do nothing else but make their fellow-members flee from prison. Moreover, he accused the prosecution of twisting evidences.
Suleiman said that the defence showed lack of understanding of the law and falsifications of the facts, and that it exploited the media in order to ignite sedition.
Judge Ahmed Refaat addressed the court saying that it would seek to achieve the maximum degree of justice and that he swore to perform his duty honestly and conscientiously.
Meanwhile, Sameh Ashour, chairman of the Egyptian Bar, said that the revolution brought both the constitution and Mubarak down.
