Cairo - Akram Ali

Anas Al-Fiki & Osama al Sheikh The Egyptian Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced the former Information Minister, Anas Al-Fiki , to seven years in prison for squandering  public wealth from the state television union. The court has also sentenced Osama al-Sheikh, the former head of the union, to five years on the same charges.
Supporters of Sheikh Osama started screaming inside the court which broke out chaos in the court when the verdict for Sheikh was read; supporters threw bottles at the judge, who had to be taken away by the security.
The Cairo Criminal Court, headed by Judge Abdullah Abu Hashim had started today the trial of Anas Al-Fiki  who is accused of squandering around $ 888 thousand  of the public wealth  by giving the Egyptian Premier League  signals free of charge  to the Satellite channels to be broadcasted.
On the other hand, Osama Sheikh was charged of squandering public money through a contract of 10 series to be screened on the Egyptian TV. It was later established that the contracts he made where at higher prices than the real cost of the production, which led to waste 20 million pounds of the public wealth.
